Wrinkle Relaxers
Neuromodulators (Botox® Nuceiva® and Dysport®) have been safely used for over 20 years for enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the face. They are injected into the facial expression muscles to reduce wrinkles. They also prevent formation and exacerbation of wrinkles if used regularly.
Treatment areas:
Crow’s feet
Forehead and frown lines
Cobblestone appearance of the chin
Horizontal and vertical neck bands
Downturn smile
Jawline and facial slimming
Neuromodulators cause reduced muscle activity in the area of injection by reducing transmission of signals from nerves to muscles. Their effect lasts 3-6 months with some people experiencing longer or shorter duration. Treatments need to be repeated on an ongoing basis for continued benefit.
Neuromodulators are often used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures such as injectable fillers, lasers and IPL to achieve better and longer lasting results.

Neuromodulators are increasingly being used to sculpt the face and restore symmetry. When placed in the upper face, they can lift the eyebrow and widen the eyes. In the lower face they can be used to contour the jawline and cause slimming of the face when the masseter muscle is treated. Additional benefits to treating the masseter muscle include reduced bruxism (clenching and grinding of teeth) which can last 6 months.
Dose needed can be dependent on the area to be treated, gender, muscle mass, skin thickness, ethnicity and the effects of aging.
Treatment time is 20 minutes. There is minimal pain due to the injections. Results begin to start in 2-3 days and full results are seen in 14 days.
Side effects- most are mild and short lived. Small amounts are used for cosmetic purposes and side effects are related to the area of injection only.
